"Horssol" ("earthless" cultivation) in the village spa of Bad Ragaz

"Horssol", the "earthless" cultivation is a relevant topic of our modern society and art. In 'earthless' cultivation in botanic, plants are irrigated with a nutrient solution (fertilizer combinations ) in 2 hour intervals by pulse watering, i.e. every 10 minutes.

The sound-light sculpture installations "Horssol" of Curt Walter Tannhäuser are about people and their faces, or a plaster cast and its hollow space, respectively, which can also be interpreted as sprout, pod, etc.

Each installation consists of several hundred casts, some of which are packed and shrink-wrapped in transparent foil or nets, reminding of the packing of sprouts, vegetables, and fruits in supermarkets.

Trying to illustrate the parallel growth in evolution, the artist confronts natural growth in nature with artificial growth such as in "memetic" or cloning.

The 3168 facial plaster casts were modeled years ago, the "Person"="Ensol"="Cultivation" in the meantime is several years older and has developed in one way or another. The casts are the shapes, which remained from the time of their modeling, and which parallel to the development of the respective person of each cast now through the artist became these very installations, which themselves are interpreted as development from an "earthless" cultivation.

This cultivation, be it in botanic or in Curt Walter Tannhäuser's seven installations, needs a coordinated commitment of growth factors like light, warmth, air, water, and nutrients to be able to arise and grow at all.

In "Horssol", the nutrients are to be understood as the creative arrangement of the installations uniquely created by the artist.
